I am deeply honoured to have been awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland by the President of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Mr. Karol Nawrocki.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, where the decoration was presented by Ms. Agnieszka Jędrzak, Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
I am also grateful that my mother had the opportunity to attend the ceremony. As we were spending our holiday together in Kraków, we interrupted our vacation to travel to Warsaw at the invitation of the Chancellery of the President. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to my dear friend, Senator Grzegorz Bierecki, who travelled from Gdynia to attend the ceremony.
Undersecretary of State Ms. Agnieszka Jędrzak wrote on X on 30 July 2026:
”Yesterday, I had the honour, on behalf of President Karol Nawrocki, to present the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland to Mr. Björn Olof Söder.
Björn Söder is a Swedish Member of Parliament and a friend of Poland. For many years, he has worked to secure the return to Poland of a copy of the Łaski Statutes—the first complete codification of the laws of the Kingdom of Poland—which was looted during the Swedish Deluge.
As Chairman of the Swedish–Polish Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Swedish Parliament, he has repeatedly expressed solidarity with Poland, including during the crisis at the Polish–Belarusian border. He has also strongly condemned the Belarusian authorities for destroying the graves of Polish soldiers buried in Belarus. Furthermore, he has consistently advocated for closer Polish–Swedish cooperation in the fields of security, the economy, and culture.
I warmly congratulate him on this distinguished honour and thank him for his efforts on behalf of Poland and for strengthening Polish–Swedish relations.”
